Personal training in downtown Indianapolis — one-on-one, built around your body, not a template. I’m Grant Denney, an NCSF-certified personal trainer and strength coach. Indianapolis clients train with me at Indy Performance Authority, a private training facility at 537 E Ohio Street — a few blocks from Mass Ave and the Cultural Trail, ten minutes from Fountain Square, and an easy stop on the way to or from a downtown office. If you’re on the north side, my Carmel studio is about 25 minutes up Meridian or US-31, and I come to homes across Indianapolis as well.

Where we train in Indianapolis
- Indy Performance Authority (IPA), 537 E Ohio Street, downtown. A private performance facility — racks, platforms, cables, sleds, turf — with none of the big-box chaos. Parking is easy, and it’s walkable from Lockerbie, Mass Ave, Chatham Arch and the east side of downtown.
- In-home personal training across Indianapolis. Meridian-Kessler, Broad Ripple, Butler-Tarkington, Irvington, Geist, the Near Northside and the northern suburbs — I bring portable equipment and a living room, basement or garage is plenty of space.
- FlexWerk Fitness, Carmel City Center (885 Monon Grn Blvd, Suite 120) for north-side clients — about 25 minutes from downtown via Meridian Street or US-31, or straight up the Monon by bike.
- Online coaching through the Ultimate You Fitness app for travel weeks and the days between sessions.
Who I work with in Indianapolis
Downtown and near-north Indianapolis clients are mostly professionals who’ve spent a decade at a desk and want to feel athletic again, people getting back into training after years off, and adults in their 40s, 50s and 60s who want to get strong without hurting themselves doing it. I also work with a lot of women who want to build real strength, people training around injuries and chronic conditions, and clients losing weight on GLP-1 medications who want to keep their muscle. You don’t need to be an athlete, and you don’t need to be in shape to start — most of my clients weren’t.
What your program looks like
- Assessment first. Your goals, injury history, schedule and what your body can realistically handle right now — including a look at how your hips, shoulders and spine move.
- Progressive strength training with real attention to form — squat, hinge, push, pull, carry — scaled to you, whether that’s an empty bar or a loaded one.
- Joint stability and hip mobility built into every session, so getting stronger doesn’t mean getting hurt.
- Nutrition habits you can keep, with protein as the non-negotiable. The free calculators give you a starting point.
- Everything in the app. Scheduled workouts, weights, readiness and progress live in the Ultimate You Fitness app, and I see what you log.
Questions Indianapolis clients ask
Can I train before or after work downtown?
Yes — that’s most of my downtown schedule. I start at 5 am, and IPA is a few minutes from most downtown offices, so a 6 am or 5 pm session fits around a normal workday. Lunchtime sessions work too.
Is IPA a regular gym? Do I need a membership?
No membership. It’s a private training facility, and you’re there as my client — you come in, we train, you leave. No crowds, no waiting on equipment, nobody filming themselves next to you.
What does it cost?
It depends on frequency and location. The FAQ covers pricing and how often to train, and the free consultation is where we build a plan that actually fits your budget and schedule — it’s a conversation, not a sales pitch.
Or call/text 765-571-1514. Training hours Monday–Friday, 5 am–6 pm. Also serving Carmel, Westfield, Fishers, Noblesville, Zionsville and Pendleton.
