Looking for a personal trainer in Pendleton who takes your injury history as seriously as your goals? I’m Grant Denney, an NCSF-certified personal trainer and strength coach, and I live in the Pendleton area myself. Most of my Pendleton clients train in their own homes — Pendleton, Pendleton Heights, Lapel, Ingalls, Fortville, McCordsville and the south side of Anderson — and some drive down to my private studio in Carmel when it fits their day.

Where we train when you live in Pendleton
- In-home personal training in Pendleton. This is the easiest option for most people here: no drive, no gym crowd. I bring portable equipment and we train in your living room, basement or garage. If you already have a rack, bench or dumbbells, we’ll build around them.
- FlexWerk Fitness, Carmel City Center (885 Monon Grn Blvd, Suite 120). A private studio with everything we need and nobody waiting on the equipment. From Pendleton it’s about 35 minutes: I-69 south, then 116th Street or 146th Street west. Early-morning clients beat the traffic entirely.
- Indy Performance Authority (537 E Ohio Street, downtown Indianapolis) if you commute downtown — about 40 minutes via I-69 or Pendleton Pike — plus online coaching through the app for weeks you can’t meet in person.
Who I work with in Pendleton
Pendleton clients tend to be people who want a real program without a 40-minute drive to find one: parents, people who work physical jobs and need to stay strong for them, and adults over 50 who want to keep lifting, keep up with grandkids and stay independent. I also work with women who want to build muscle and strength, people training around knee, shoulder and back issues, and clients on GLP-1 medications who want the weight they lose to be fat, not muscle.
What your program looks like
- Assessment first. Your goals, injury history, schedule and what your body can realistically handle right now.
- Progressive strength training with real attention to form — squat, hinge, push, pull, carry — scaled to you, whether that’s an empty bar or a loaded one.
- Joint stability and mobility work built into every session, so getting stronger doesn’t mean getting hurt.
- Nutrition habits you can actually keep, with protein as the non-negotiable. Try the free calculators for a starting point.
- Everything in the app. Your scheduled workouts, weights, readiness and progress live in the Ultimate You Fitness app, and I see what you log.
Questions Pendleton clients ask
Do you really come to Pendleton?
Yes. I live in the area, so in-home sessions in Pendleton, Lapel, Ingalls, Fortville, McCordsville and south Anderson are easy to schedule. In-home training is a separate rate from the studio; we’ll go over it at your free consultation.
What equipment do I need at home?
Nothing to start. I bring dumbbells, bands, a bench and whatever else the session calls for. If you decide to build a small home gym later, I’ll tell you exactly what’s worth buying and what isn’t.
I’ve had injuries — can you work around them?
That’s most of what I do. I’ve rebuilt my own body after multiple joint surgeries and a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, and every program starts with an assessment of what your body can handle right now. Read more on the About page or in the FAQ.
